Queen's Speech tomorrow:
The Bill with a clause about changing the law on home education is expected to be introduced to Parliament via the Queen's Speech on November 18th - tomorrow. This means that the parliamentary debates on the Bill after the Second Reading could be in early December.
Graham Stuart MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Home Education devised the Petition - opposing the Badman recommendations. The Parliamentary Petition, which has to follow strict rules regarding wording and procedure, will be taken to the House in December.
Local Constituency Coordinators:
Over 150 constituencies are already covered. The job of the local constituency co-ordinator is to collect signatures on the correct pieces of paper and deliver the Petition Papers to the constituency MP in good time (by end of November at latest) for the MP to take to Westminster. Co-ordinators are also encouraged to get local publicity for the handover to MPs.
